SALFO was responsible for providing technical advice and project oversight for the pre-construction phase of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Reserve Development Authority’s Duba Reinforcement project. The scope of work involved reviewing existing drafts of the Reinforcement RFP, past heritage studies for Duba Old Town, and reinforcement guidelines for other heritage precincts in Saudi Arabia. SALFO was also tasked with producing standardized reinforcement treatments for structural stability, obtaining Ministry of Culture endorsement, and providing a schedule of required treatments for each building. Additionally, they were to recommend treatments for collapsed or destroyed heritage buildings, contribute to the revision of the Reinforcement RFP, and ensure the alignment of the project with ICOMOS guidelines. Their role included offering technical input during the contractor evaluation process and supporting the Ministry of Culture and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Reserve in the technical evaluation of bids.
